  abstract = {Taking into account the lately attitude of business on adaptation issues as demanding requirements of information users, we find that the tendency to use the equity in the appreciation of the company's performance is predominant. Paying particular attention to the needs of accounting information to stakeholders, including consumers, involves exploring a wider range of financial indicators at year-end report by companies. The main objective of this paper is to use equity in the process of assessing the company's performance to provide sustainable business management tools. This paper presents theoretical and practical importance of equity in the process of assessing the performance of companies in the Romanian metallurgical industry. As previous research has highlighted the significant impact on the company's performance of the equity, we consider a critical need for an analysis of correlation between equity and global result, and respectively between equity and turnover. The need to update the indicators used in assessing the performance of companies to deal with the nonlinear evolution of the crisis and optimize decision making, makes the current period to open up horizons for new tools on assessing the performance of companies.},
