abstract = {Improvement and competition are at the root of new strategies in the business world. The sharing economy is one example that is revolutionizing traditional business today in almost all countries all over the world. In Lebanon, people have practiced numerous ways of sharing for decades, but what is currently different is the new technologies that are available to help in connecting people to the world, thus becoming part of globalization.  It is clear that this trend of exchange has become the subject of considerable interest in Lebanon.  The rise of this economic phenomenon gives consumers and businesses unlimited and unbounded opportunities, which may potentially generate economic value and foster growth.  The purpose of our paper at hand is to study the scope and challenges of the sharing economy as perceived by the Lebanese users.  It focuses on the factors affecting the intention of the Lebanese to participate in the collaborative consumption.  To remain objective and scientific in our approach, the study uses structural equation model (SEM) to analyze survey data from a sample randomly chosen (n=673).  Thus, our results and analyses provide evidence that economic benefit, heavy reliance on new technology, community belonging, safety and trust and user protection are important criteria for the adoption of the sharing economy in Lebanon. },
