abstract = {Students’ commitment has been a concern for educational institutions, especially during the pandemic and due to the digital transformation. Accordingly, this research investigates the impact of academic self-efficacy on satisfaction and students’ online commitment. It also examines the moderation role of digital nudging and gender, together with the mediating role of students’ satisfaction in an online learning environment. An online questionnaire was distributed over students enrolled in a private higher education university in Egypt. Collected data were statistically analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. Digital nudging was not proven to have a significant moderation effect, while gender was found to have a positive moderating effect on both student satisfaction and commitment. Academic self-efficacy had a significant influence on student satisfaction and student commitment. Student satisfaction was also proven to have a positive influence between academic self-efficacy and student commitment. This study paves the way for further investigations in other higher educational institutions in Egypt and possibly other contexts.},
