abstract = {The objective of this study is to research suicide rates in Turkey for the period 2002-2011 for both males and females by using spatial statistical methods and mapping analysis. The results of the analyses show that the suicide mortality rates in Turkey are higher among men than among women and that the seasons affect suicide rates. Also, it is shown that the highest suicide rate for males and females is observed for the 15-24 and 25-34 age groups, respectively. From mapping analysis and spatial statistics tools, it is concluded that the suicide rates for males and females are high in East Anatolia, South East Anatolia, Southwest Aegean and certain coastal provinces of West and Central Black Sea sub-regions. In addition, there is a moderate level of spatial clustering in both male and female suicide mortality rates in Turkey. It means that neighbouring provinces are more similar than distant ones in terms of suicide mortality},
