Information and Energy in Radiocommunication

Information is an essential element of human life. The means of communicating information has evolved over the centuries – people have striven to transmit more and more information. With the transmission of information is related to energy consumption and one of the goals has always been to minimize the energy required. For this purpose, a number of methods are used – eg. eliminating redundant information without loss of information content, but also decides to limit some information content in a manner to avoid any damage transmitted information – eg. reducing image resolution. Information transmission methods are also optimized in terms of channel capacity and transmission energy efficiency. All these activities allow to send more information faster and with less and less energy consumption.
