Abstract

At present higher educational institutions are integrating into the global educational space. As a result, e-learning implemented at various levels of Crimean educational institutions becomes relevant.

Technology as the area of big opportunities for improvement in higher education impacting the development of new ways of assessment can enhance motivation, self-reflection, and washback.

The research aims to determine the capabilities of open educational resources implemented in the educational process for Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree Programmes based on the data obtained at the Sevastopol State University. Viewing integration of digital and web technologies in the educational process in terms of developing students’ and professors’ new skills and professional competencies, the paper describes the benefits and challenges of e-learning assessment resources. The analysis of literary sources and conducted empirical study allows presenting and substantiating e-learning features, various examples of electronic resources, their efficiency, and feasibility in developing the modern digital educational environment. It is stated that the effective implementation of the electronic assessment depends on the federal, regional, and local legal framework; personnel qualification, technical equipment, access to technology; quality methodological support; teachers’ and students’ readiness to electronic assessment application. The practice-based look reveals the potential of online testing in foreign philology education as an instrument of the students – academic staff – authorities interaction along with evaluation, whose strong points include enhancement of communication where fast feedback based on reliable statistics is needed; saving time for live interaction both in real classroom and in synchronic teaching/learning sessions in remote education; individualization of studies.
