Abstract
The paper analyzed the offer in terms of number of guest houses and places in agri-tourism in Romania during the period 2011-2020, based on the data from National Institute of Statistics, descriptive statistics, fixed and structural indices, and comparisons regarding the territorial distribution by tourist destination. A general increasing trend was noticed in the number of agri-tourist guest houses and places. In the year 2020, in Romanis’a agri-tourism existed 1,210 pensions offering 52.4 thousands places. The growth rate during the last decade accounted for 63.% for pensions and 60% for places. The agri-tourism infrastructure in terms of pensions and places is distributed in the territory, based on the decreasing order of the visitor’s preference for tourist destination, as follows: other locations situated in isolated places, mountain resorts, the Danube Delta, balneary resorts, main cities and seaside resorts. The variation coefficients showed a relative heterogeneity of the data in the mountain resorts, balneary resorts and other destinations, and the highest heterogeneity in the Danube Delta. During the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, rural and agri-tourist pensions were suitable for accommodating families and small groups mainly in the mountain areas, balneary resorts and isolated places. Domestic outdoors tourism has to be prepared in 2021 to meet visitors’ needs for safer vacation destinations than classical tourism forms.
