Abstract

The ability to communicate effectively is a value and an asset that often determines success in life. Knowledge of the processes of interpersonal communication is essential to elucidate the mechanisms and processes shaping human social behaviour. Communication is a necessity. The article indicates the role of communicative and linguistic competences in establishing and maintaining social contacts as well as building and maintaining relationships. The aim of the article is, on the one hand, to describe in detail the linguistic, communicative and interactive competences and to review the literature on the subject in order to identify possible gaps with the intention of proposing new research ideas. Based on a review of related studies, this article provides recommendations for effective communication with adolescents, taking into account communication barriers and future research.
