Abstract
Ignorance of safe maternity is an indispensable factor that leads to the deplorable state of the health sector in any nation’s economy. Addressing the global burden of mortality among expectant and nursing mothers requires advancing a global outreach of safe maternity messages by means of mass communication. Survey was the research design of this study and the research instrument was the questionnaire, which had internal consistency at a significant level. The objectives of this study were: determining the relationship between mass communication and maternity knowledge; assessing the impact of mass communication on safe maternity sensitization; and establishing the influence of exposure to mass media messages on safe maternity. The findings of this study portrayed all analyzed constructs with a high Cronbach coefficient; exposure to mass media messages has a strong positive influence on safe maternity. Safe maternity sensitization via mass communication, is therefore, recommended for all maternal health stakeholders.
