Abstract
The article examines the problematic aspects of ensuring food security in the Russian Federation. Attention is drawn to the need to ensure the quality and safety of food, which, according to the authors, is a necessary element of ensuring national security in the food sector. The risks arising in the Russian food market pose a significant threat to public health, which casts doubt on the possibility of sustainable development of the Russian state. The main risks, according to the authors, are associated with the widespread distribution of counterfeit and falsified products. In addition, significant risks are caused by the development of global fast food chains on the territory of the Russian Federation, the uncontrolled spread of biologically active food additives and other factors. All this presents a problem for ensuring the national security of the Russian Federation. The organizational and legal measures taken by Russia to improve the quality and safety of food products consumed by the population are assessed. It is concluded that the legal mechanisms for countering the threats arising in the food market do not fully guarantee the health of Russian citizens.
