Abstract
The main of the research was to identify changes in population in settlement structures adjacent to a large city, taking into account the specificity of transformations in the population potential of these settlement units. In terms of time, the years 1978-2019 were taken into account, while in the spatial aspect, the scope of work was defined as the suburban zones of Szczecin, which included 7 cities and 18 rural communes. The scope of the analysis covered the population changes of these administrative units and their dynamics. A spatial typology of changes in the population of the suburban zones was also made. The presented research is in line with the subject of the Polish scientific literature related to the demographic changes of suburban zones of large cities.
