Abstract

The study of teacher competence is important for the country, society, schools and students. In order to conduct a systematic and in-depth study on teacher competence, we need to understand the current research on teacher competence in China and abroad. Therefore, we use literature measurement, content analysis, co-word analysis and other related literature measurement and analysis methods and techniques for research. We searched the CNKI database and finally sorted out 1,211 Chinese papers on teacher and competency subjects. Searched in Web of Science core collection database and finally sorted out 5129 papers in English. We use these documents as the basic data source. By analyzing the two sample data sources, the current status and characteristics of Chinese research represented by CNKI database and the current status and characteristics of international research represented by Web of science core collection database are summarized. And comparatively analyzes the similarities and differences between Chinese and international researches.

Through research, we found that: First, domestic and foreign researchers have continued to increase their research interest in teachers and abilities, and both Chinese annual publications and international publications have shown a wave-like upward trend. Secondly, international research is more continuity and in-depth. Third, Chinese researchers’ interests are concentrated in the areas of competency models, university teachers, vocational colleges, and post competence, while international researchers pay more attention to higher education, teacher education, motivation, and evaluation. Fourth, Chinese and international research institutions that publish more papers in this field are almost all universities.
