Abstract
The hotel management is a key sector of the tourism industry which interacts strongly with the social and natural environment. It is characterised by high consumption of resources and the production of large amounts of waste harmful to the environment. Hotel facilities, in constant pursuit of competitive advantage, are taking socially responsible actions which to a large extent are focused on environmental care.
The aim of the article is to present the environmental dimension of CSR. The article analyses the benefits and impediments to the implementation of environmental solutions in the hotel management in the context of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) as exemplified by specific environmentally friendly activities undertaken by Radisson Blu hotels.
The theoretical part of the study is a result of the desk research in the form of an analysis of the source literature and industry reports. In the empirical part, the author used the case study method, the aim of which was to illustrate the environmental activities undertaken in the selected hotel facility.
As the environmental activities undertaken by hotels as a manifestation of CSR is an area poorly analysed in the literature, the author decided to examine it in this article. The issue of ecology in the hotel industry or CSR in service companies is extensively researched. However, there are very few studies combining the two areas.
Keywords: Corporate Social Responsibility, Hotel, Environmentally Friendly Attitudes, Ecology.
