Abstract
The concept of employees’ engagement is a critical aspect for any organisation around the world, which ultimately affects the level of organisational performance. In an attempt to improve the level of employees’ engagement in the workplace past studies have indicated several strategies. However, despite this there are still prevailing issues regarding the employees’ engagement, especially in Nigeria. In the Nigerian healthcare sector, a recent report showed that there is inadequate level of high engagement, loyalty, satisfaction and intention to stay, among others in the healthcare sector, which has ultimately resulted in multiple avoidable sicknesses, injuries, and mortalities. Therefore, the study examines the influence of structural empowerment on employees’ engagement in Nigerian healthcare sector. This study concludes that structural empowerment which comprised access to opportunities, information, support, resources, and sense of autonomy (power) is able to drive employees’ engagement. Thus, when structural empowerment is reinforced within the healthcare organisations, this would influence employees to become more involved and engaged
