Characteristics of Innovative Ecological Solutions on The Example of Collective and Individual Transport: A Case Study of a Selected Metropolitan Area in Poland

Abstract

The processes of globalization and the rapid development of the information society force an increased pace of innovative changes in all areas. One such area is transportation. The aim of the article is an attempt to characterize innovative transport solutions for urban and individual transport on the example of a selected concept. The concept of the Szczecin Metropolitan Area (SMA) and the Szczecin Metropolitan Railway (SMR) was presented and described. The basic costs of establishing SMA and SMR were summarized. Also characterized the latest methods of public transport in Szczecin: Carsharing, city bike and urban electric scooter. The presented studies may be helpful in understanding the essence of the transformation of society waiting Polish and European metropolises in the coming years
