The aim of the article is to present the diversity of the Smart City concept and the practical effects of its implementation in various cities around the world, with particular emphasis on Polish cities. The article presents and discusses one of the Smart City rankings (Index 2020 – IMD Business School) and the local ranking referring only to Polish cities (Forbes). On the example of the city of Czestochowa and a survey conducted among its residents, a reference was made to the practical effects of including this idea in the development of the agglomeration.
