Sustainable Winegrowing and Tourist Potential: The Case Study of Tokaj Wine Region in Slovakia

Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyse the conditions of the sustainable winegrowing and tourism development in the Tokaj Wine Region, where besides the wine production is a big potential for tourism. The research problem addressed in the paper is theoretical and empirical and the research methods employed include analysis, synthesis and generalization. The article presents brief overview of the history and current state of winegrowing and wine tourism potential in the Tokaj wine region in Slovakia. The history and development as well as trends in sustainable winegrowing and wine tourism research needs more attention from tourism researchers. Research limitations contains data availability regarding sustainable winegrowing in Tokaj wine region, as the application of review method which relies on previously published research and the availability of these studies.
