Comparisons of Fuzzy Numbers Using Defuzzification Methods

This paper addresses the issue of fuzzy number comparison based on defuzzification methods. The comparison is the most commonly used operation to determine which object is larger, smaller or equal. This paper describes the use of defuzzification methods to compare fuzzy numbers. The proposed solution assumes that the membership degree of a fuzzy number is reduced to a scalar value, and the results of a fuzzy number defuzzification operation are used for comparison in the conventional procedure. The solution allows to simplify the operation and it yields more precise results.
