The pandemic period reorganized the traditional models of work performance and forced the necessity to introduce changes in the management of entire organizations, teams and individual units. The need to quickly adapt to the conditions of remote work forced the use of new software on a large scale, often without the necessary training of users and IT staff.
The aim of the article is to present the results of research on the impact of the use of electronic communication tools such as Microsoft Teams on internal and external data sharing and the security of organization resources. The aim of the study was to verify to what extent users use the mechanisms offered by Microsoft Teams related to the organization of work in a group – such as setting up teams, communication and sharing data in teams, and whether they care about cleaning unused resources.
The article is divided into three parts. The first part briefly describes the period associated with the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic and its impact on the expansion of cloud communication tools. The second part of the article is devoted to the impact of the use of cloud services on the organization. The third part of the article is an analysis of the case of using Microsoft Teams by one of the large Polish manufacturing company. The data presented in the study can be used to indicate areas in the activity of users related to the use of communication tools, which should be paid attention to from the point of view of data security of the organization.
