Factors Affecting Entrepreneurial Intention among Young Adults

Abstract

Entrepreneurship development is important since it can benefit a nation’s economic and social wellbeing. Due to that governments encourage entrepreneurial activities. This study’s objective is to determine the factors affecting entrepreneurial intention among young adults in Malaysia. The factors studied are risk taking, entrepreneurial education, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control. The study has around 150 respondents. The sampling method used is purposive sampling. Multiple regression analysis is used to analyse the data collected. It is found that entrepreneurial education, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control affect entrepreneurial intention. Therefore governments and other relevant parties should put emphasis in these factors to develop entrepreneurship in Malaysia. Continuous upgrading the curriculum of entrepreneurial education is very critical for entrepreneurship development.
