Abstract

As a result of the worldwide impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, companies and their employees are facing a number of challenges. Not only in the field of work, but in all spheres of life, fundamental changes have taken place. The home office has become the most significant. The aim of this article is to summarize the positives and negatives of the home office from the perspective of both the employee and the employer in the pandemic years 2020 and 2021. The partial objectives are to find out how Generation Z feels about the home office and to provide a picture of the future of home office use, all in the Czech Republic. In order to meet the objectives, the methods of analysis and research of quantitative and qualitative published print and e-information on the area under study, content analysis and descriptive statistics with second-level gender classification, as well as the methods of comparison, synthesis, induction and deduction were used. The output of the article is the finding if both Generation Z and those employees who worked in the home office regime during the pandemic for a whole year, perceive the positives and negatives in the same way; they consider saving time as the biggest positive, and lack of personal contact as the biggest negative. From the point of view of employers, the biggest positive is the reduction of costs, while the negative is much more difficult control of employees. As for the future of the home office, it will be used to a greater extent than before the pandemic, but it will certainly not be the predominant working regime.
