Determinants of Crime on The Socio-Economic Development of Rural Areas in The Republic of Moldova

Abstract

Crime is a major obstacle to the sustainable development of the rural environment. This article explores the drivers of crime and their impact on the socio-economic development of rural areas in the Republic of Moldova. The main aim of the study is to identify and analyse the causes of crime in rural areas and the effects they have on the well-being and progress of local communities. The article presents an analysis of criminogenic factors through a review of the literature and a statistical analysis of relevant data. The methodology used includes desk research and interpretation of official data on rural crime, highlighting trends and critical issues. The conclusions suggest concrete measures to reduce crime and support sustainable economic development in rural communities in the Republic of Moldova. This study provides a solid basis for public policies and strategic interventions to improve security and quality of life in rural areas.
