Mortgage Subsidies and Their Impact on The Housing Market in Poland

The article deals with the Polish housing loan support “First Flat” programme for young people that was implemented in 2023. This constitutes the inaugural effort to synthesize an evaluation of the programme, encompassing both the effects on the individuals concerned and its impact on the housing market in Poland. This is achieved by means of an analysis of data pertaining to the terms and scope of the programme itself, as well as its impact on prices, housing supply and the number of transactions carried out. The study concludes with a call for in-depth analyses to be conducted when constructing similar programmes in the future, as well as provides a preliminary assessment of the effects of the programme.
