Abstract
Recently, there have been some criticisms that the same prescriptions are presented to the masses on similar stories about career planning in Türkiye. This qualitative research method is used to investigate the subject through high school guidance counsellors. In particular, the factors that are effective in career planning and the relationship between career and nonpreferred occupational groups, which are described as dirty jobs (cleaning workers, industrialists, etc.) in the research were revealed. This study was designed with qualitative method and the data were analysed using a semi-structured interview form. Interviews were conducted by in-depth interview method. The data of the voice recordings taken in line with the permission of the participants were transcribed and analysed in Maxqda 2020 programme. The analysis of the data was carried out by content analysis method and inductive analysis approach. The criteria sampling method is the sampling method of the study. This study concluded that there is no conscious action in career planning, also the current number of students per guidance counsellor is high, and there are some problems in both academic and practical perspectives on career, especially in lowly professions. It has been emphasised that career planning, whose structure will change and importance will increase in the future, should be handled more accurately.
