Abstract

Each organization strives to achieve market leadership. To be competitive, organizations need to use human resources efficiently. In the current conditions, it is crucial to stimulate employees to increase labor productivity and improve the quality of work and services. Organizations need to focus on the practical sphere of management and scientific interests and to develop a system of incentives to motivate research scientists. TAnalyzing this problem and the conditions in Russia and abroad, the authors came to the conclusion that the personnel incentive system needs to be improved to motivate the research scientists. Since the technological progress brings about better working conditions, staffs need to improve their professional qualifications. However, there are even more problems in the sphere of personnel management. In most organizations, especially in non-profit organizations, managers do not aspire to find the ways to motivate their research staff. The authors made a number of theoretical conclusions and proposed the ways to develop a system of material incentives for research scientists, which can be a basis for further research in the field of personnel management of organizations. As for the practical significance of the research, the authors gave some useful recommendations to personnel managers of all kinds of research organizations.
