Abstract
This study aims to examine the factors influencing employees’ whistle blowing practices. Specifically, this study examines the effect of job satisfaction, fair treatment and cooperativeness among the employees in the public listed companies. This study utilizes the Miceli-Near-Dworkin model that discusses on the characteristics of an individual, the situation as well as the organisation that commit events of misconduct and the relative power of the parties over one another as well as the consequences for the individual who blows the whistle. Using questionnaire survey on 137 employees in a public listed company in Malaysia, this study shows that there is a significant relationship between fair treatment and whistle-blowing practices. However, the remaining two factors which are job satisfaction and cooperativeness do not have significant relationship with the whistle blowing practices among the employees in the public listed companies. The findings of this study provides understanding to the management of the public listed companies in relation to whistle blowing practices. The findings of this study offer information to the management of the public listed company regarding the whistle-blowing practices. The findings of this study would be able to raise awareness amongst the officers in terms of being willing to report the occurrence of any wrongdoings in the organisation. This study also provides awareness among the employees and subsequently, create a better and healthier environment in the organisation.
