Problems and Prospects of China’s Transportation Transition to Sustainable Development

Abstract

In China, with the rapid development of the national economy, the entire transportation system has achieved unprecedented rapid development, but the ensuing traffic pollution problem has become one of the main factors that counteract urban development. The development of sustainable transportation is both an inevitable road for the development of the world and China. This paper uses the literature method, qualitative analysis method, quantitative analysis method and comparative analysis method to analyses the current situation of China’s transportation development by comparing foreign data, and points out the main problems facing the sustainable development of China’s transportation. In order to achieve all-round sustainable development goals of transportation, ecological environment, resource utilization, supply and demand balance, economic development, and social stability. This paper lists practical suggestions from five aspects: policy support, technological innovation, fiscal and taxation policies, optimization of transportation structure, and establishment of a public transportation system. The establishment of a sustainable transportation system is the purpose of building a powerful transportation country; only by vigorously developing a sustainable transportation system will it meet the country’s socio-economic development and people’s needs for a better life. Sustainable transportation will become an important direction for China to build a powerful transportation country and a key point for China to participate in and achieve sustainable development.
