Abstract

An analytical assessment of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the food security of the regions of Ukraine identified that COVID-19 pandemic revealed vulnerability in global food chains and food systems. Studies show that the quarantine measures and restrictions on the movement of people and goods have become a real problem for many border regions of Ukraine in order to ensure food security, especially for the most vulnerable. This threatens the achievement of sustainable development goals, including the eradication of hunger by 2030. Results of the research were substantiated to be used in the development of management decisions and implementation of effective state policy of rural development, ensuring the adaptability of regions of Ukraine to restrictive quarantine measures in terms of COVID-19.

Novelty. Theoretical and methodological provisions, scientific and methodological and practical approaches to determining the indicators and factors influencing COVID-19 on the food security of regions of Ukraine are substantiated. The assessment of the impact of COVID-19 on food security identified the main risks to food security.

Practical value. Applied aspects of the research will be taken into account in the formation of programs of socio-economic development of the agri-food sector of Ukraine and its administrative regions, which will increase the effectiveness of state initiatives to ensure food security of administrative regions against force majeures.

Purpose – assess the COVID-19 pandemic impact on food security of regions of Ukraine.
