Abstract

The aim of this article is to identify and assess key company competences in terms of Industry 4.0 and related challenges. In particular, it seeks to find out what personnel attributes a company should have to be able to effectively compete in a world of advanced technological strategies developed as a natural consequence of technological progress, development of production means, growing awareness and requirements of consumers, and innovation. These elements are indicated as extremely significant in the transformation of industry, reflected in the digitization of production, automation, and production plants combined into coherent and comprehensive chains based on automatic information exchange. While posing a challenge for companies, these phenomena also allow them to achieve greater results in contemporary world. Due to the multidimensional and multifaceted nature of the discussed problem, factor analysis (Principal Component Analysis) was adopted as the basic research method. This empirical study allowed us to identify areas of key personnel competences of a company, with their value, cognitive load, and impact. They were classified in six categories: professionalism, internal relations, professional preparation, risk, employees, and contractors/clients, they constitute a common ground for the company’s operations that should be invested in, developed, and customer service.
