Abstract

One of the important subsystems of every industrial enterprise is the maintenance system. While the development of industry began as early as in the eighteenth century, significant changes in maintenance systems occurred only after World War II. New technical, organizational and informational concepts for maintaining the technical efficiency of machinery and equipment have appeared, known as Preventive Maintenance, Condition Based Maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance. The research aim of this article is to check to what extent the maintenance systems used in Polish enterprises are adapted to the conditions of Industry 4.0. The questionnaire survey conducted in 2020 in 100 industrial enterprises showed that the latest maintenance systems, i.e. TPM and Predictive Maintenance are known and partly used in 19% of the surveyed enterprises, but only in two enterprises are fully implemented and prepared to the conditions of Industry 4.0.
